Friesisches Brauhaus zu Jever

Friesisches Brauhaus Jever, located in Jever (Friesland, northern Germany), is the brewery behind one of Germany’s most distinctive and famously dry pilsners: Jever Pilsener. Founded in 1848, the brewery has become synonymous with the Friesisch Herb profile, a sharply bitter, crisp, and bracingly dry pilsner that reflects the coastal North German brewing tradition.

Jever’s identity is built on a high hop bitterness (not aggressive, but very firm and clean), with a dry finish, drier than most German pilsners, along with a bright, grassy, herbal hop aroma. Exceptionally crisp drinkability.

This makes Jever stand out even among other northern pilsners like Flensburger or Veltins. It’s lean, refreshing, and unapologetically bitter, a style that has earned it a cult following.

The brewery also produces variants such as Jever Fun (alcohol‑free) and seasonal specialties, but the core identity is entirely anchored in the iconic, herb‑dry pils.
